When It Comes To Fly Fishing Key West Will Really Thrill You

By Jeanette Riggs

You have been planning this fly fishing Key West holiday for some time now and finally it is time to put the finishing touches to the plans. Going on vacation once year, means that everyone must be able to enjoy themselves. This includes you, as one deserves time off to rest and have fun.

Planning a trip to the sea shore means that the kids must take along their snorkels and surf boards as well as spades and sand buckets for those days where you will be building super big sand castles in the sand with them. One cannot go to the beach without mum's fishing net for catching the little fish in the rock pools. And one cannot forget the fly rods which you will go on top.

One also cannot forget to pack in the vast collection of stunning flies that you have been building up all these months. The endless hours you have spent making up the fly fishing lures simply have to pay off this season when you stop along the way to test them out. One hopes that the salt water ones you tied will have some good response. You put in some extra time for those, in hopes that they catch you some good fish from the sea.

Getting to the coast is no race for you and you like to take your time getting there. You have planned a blissful three week vacation and it starts when you get into the car. Your intention is to get to your destination in one piece and without any stress.

Everything is taken care of and the house sitter is happy looking after the place for the three weeks while you are away. The car has been serviced and in good running order. The accommodation at the coast has been confirmed and everything is in place for a stunning time. This is going to be a great time for everyone and everything is going according to plan.

Your idea is to stop at a couple of places on route to try out the new fly rod you got from Christmas from the kids. This is a great opportunity for the little ones to stretch their legs. The back of a car can get rather restrictive, when you have been sitting there for some time.

Driving along after some time you spot a glistening stream. In the distance you notice some string swells as the water ripples from a surfacing fish. This is promising and you cast your rod. Unfortunately to no avail. After a few casts you put your rod down for a rest. One learns to be patient when it comes to fly fishing as it takes some skill. Sometimes the fish just will not bite and you have to accept that.

Carelessly, your wife casts the fly into the water mimicking a water insect. The water swells and begins to ripple as a wide mouth makes his way to the surface to swallow the fly. All you can do as she gently frees him back into the sparkling water is smile to yourself and know in your mind that this is going to be one of those great experiences in fly fishing Key West can only provide.
