Find Out How To Your Golf Swing With 5 Quick Steps

By Donald Harris

Golfing is usually accompanied by swear words and flying putters. Although it is supposedly a refined sport, many players routinely lose tempers after losing a game and a bet. You can minimize this agonizing experience by taking steps to improve your golf swing. With the game of golf, "practice makes perfect" does not always apply if you keep repeating a bad swing.

Usually, the culprit of a bad game is a bad strike on the ball. To develop your swinging technique, you will need to enhance other things too such as the way you hold your club and how you stand. Only a small number of people have problems with short games and pitching as most issues are found in the long game using the driver or irons.

One of the things you need to practice is holding your club properly. It is easy to grip the shaft of your driver or iron too firmly which can be detrimental to your swinging technique. You need to be a bit relaxed to allow more flexibility in your trunk and arms. This will promote a better strike to the ball and longer distance.

Hold the club with a neutral grip and then support it by locking your hands together to secure the club. There are three ways to lock the grip. One way is through the Vardon grip which overlapping your pinkie finger with the lead hand's middle and index fingers. You can also use an interlocking grip if your arms are not powerful and strong. A few players use the baseball grip.

Use the type of locking method that suits you well. You can experiment with the three different kinds of grips at the driving range to figure out the best one that works for you. Just remember to use less pressure with your hands and to relax the arm and your body as you address the ball. Always use a glove on your lead hand to prevent callouses and painful bruises.

Once you have found the right way to grip your club, you will notice your driver hitting the ball squarely in the middle of the club face, which is often called the sweet spot. You can feel and hear this effect and new players will eventually recognize it when this happens. Typically, the perfect grip for you is the one that feels most comfortable.

After you get this step correctly it will be time to improve your stance. Professionals can hit a perfect shot and make it look so effortless. This is because their entire body works with the arms as you hit the ball. You will need to stand properly first before your body can turn correctly and smoothly. Align your feet on the ground and bend your knees slightly. Remember to relax once you have the proper stance.

You can begin practicing your swinging style by lifting your club back till it forms a 90 degree angle with your body. Do not rush the downswing and hold it at that angle for a second before bringing you club down to the ball. Keep your eyes on where the ball used to be on the ground as you make a full-swing. Improve your golf swing by practicing proper techniques, not by repeating defective habits.
