Major League Sports and Soccer in Dallas

Led by the Dallas Cowboys, one of the country's favorite groups, major league sports in Dallas are one of the city of Dallas' greatest sports attractions. Present day NFL Cowboys team aren't as dominating as the teams of yore. However, the Dallas area is home to championship contenders in all of the major league sports, making the city one of the premiere sports cities in the USA and therefore a great destination for sports minded travelers.

Dallas Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys are frequently called by the moniker "America's Team". Having reached eight Super Bowls and won five, the Dallas Cowboys is the highest winning active franchise in the National Football League. The franchise has produced several countrywide heroes, from Roger Staubach to Ed "Too-Tall" Jones, that are still usually admired many decades after the end of their professional soccer careers. With an approximate price of $1.5 bn., the Cowboys are reputedly the second most valuable sports franchise globally , trailing only England's Manchester United.

Texas Rangers

Major League baseball in Dallas appears in the form of the Texas Rangers. Until recently, the Rangers were a standout among Texas sports teams for their evergreen position at the bottom of the standings. Nevertheless in 2010 and 2011, the franchise, historically rich in hitting and poor in pitching, assembled one of the finest pitching staffs in baseball. Regardless of many years as an also-ran, the Rangers have produced or nurtured plenty of the league's top hitters, from Rafael Palmeiro to Juan Gonzalez to Michael Young. Though the team lost the World Series in both 2010 and 2011, baseball in Dallas clearly has finally risen to championship form.

Dallas Mavericks

After a number of years of strong groups, the "Mavs" finally brought the NBA prize home in 2011. The victory was sweet, as they beat the Miami Heat and the respected LeBron James. The Mavericks first reached the conference championships in 1987, but weren't significant contenders again until after the beginning of the century. Since the 21st Century started nevertheless , the team has won two division titles, two conference championships, and the recent league championship.

Dallas Stars

The Stars arrived in Dallas in 1993 after many years in Minnesota as the North Stars, and at the end of a lot of losing seasons. After arriving in Dallas, the Stars worked its way into contention, at last reaching and winning the Stanley Cup Finals in the 1998-1999 season. Though a strong team, this cup proved to be the highlight for the Stars. They remained a force in the league till 2009, when they failed to reach the playoffs for the first time in several years.

FC Dallas

Big League Football in Dallas began in 1996 with the Dallas Burn, a founding team of Big League Soccer. The team became FC Dallas in 2005. The team has said off and on over the years but hasn't became an evergreen power house. However, soccer in Dallas is great to watch and the team draws many fans.
