All About Fifth Wheel Trailers

By Estela Bolton

Fifth wheel trailers get their name from the method in which they hook to the vehicle pulling them. The camper is hooked to the vehicle by a fifth wheel hitch. This hitch connects to the rear of the vehicle, usually below the license plate, and connects to the camper. At first glance it appears as if the camper is actually suspended from the vehicle. A full size truck is most commonly used for towing these RV campers.

When it comes to RV's there are so many options you can choose from. Sizes can range from the very small to the very large. Some are very basic and only provide things that would be essential during a trip. Others are packed with various options like you would have if you were home. Some examples include a full size kitchen, large screen television, a full size washer and dryer set and full size beds. It's amazing what things you will find inside some models.

Some RV'a are just more basic models than others and are often constructed of cheaper building materials. There probably won't be many amenities included in these versions either. These options usually come with little more than the bare essentials, but are still much more convenient than tent camping.

Some camper options have a long list of upgraded amenities. They are more of a luxury purchase in the world of campers. With things like hardwood cabinets, top of the line carpet, spacious rooms and full size appliances in the kitchen, it is easy to see why so many people want them.

The biggest campers can be upgrade with up to four individual slide out expansions to increase interior space upon set up. This is usually the maximum number of slide out expansions that is allowable, but it does increase space enough that size is comparable to a small house that has been completely furnished. This is why so many consider them a home away from home.

An individual's family size will probably play a major role in purchasing decisions. Families with many members would not be able to use a small RV comfortably. A family with only a few members wouldn't find it useful to have an extremely large option either. What you want to find is a camper with just enough room for their to be no cramping so everyone remains comfortable during trips.

Budget will be another factor behind your decision of what to buy. With such a wide range of choices, a suitable option for anyone should be available. Aspiring RV owners usually know exactly what they are looking for. They have a good idea of how much space they want and what extras they want included.

Fifth wheel trailers are a wonderful investment for families. They open up new doors for lots of new adventures and cost less than a hotel room every night when you are away from home. Families get the convenience of feeling like they are still at home, even though they may be miles away. They are the perfect option for extended camping. They provide more sturdy shelter if you are camping during poor weather in comparison to tents. Another advantage is that you would be able to provide home cooked meals to your family every day instead limited choices from campfire cooking.
