What To Do When A Bear Suddenly Pop Up During Your Camping

By Harri D Gatsch

I woke up soaked in sweat, my own heart pounding. I was dreaming a grizzly was chasing me and I tripped, turned on my back and attempted groping for a weapon. A giant paw was coming to my face the instant I snapped out of the dream. My palm was on my waist, and I understood I was in search of my Mace brand bear pepper spray.

We are prepared to proceed camping this weekend, and my uncle urged that we carry protection from grizzly bears, preferably one which is non-deadly. So, bear pepper spray, it is. Uniquely produced for these kinds of wildlife residents, its results are instant, however wear off eventually.

Just before buying one, I read it is the more favored animal repellent than guns, that can bring about irreversible harm to both grizzlies and also people. Besides, panic is the first reaction if met with grizzlies. So, unless you're very skilled at shooting, you minimize the chances of pushing the bear away and boost the chance of your being hurt.

A good number of bear encounters are surprises thus quick reflexes are required to become effective in making use of bear repellent. Even coming from a length of 35 feet, my personal spray can disable a grizzly bear as well as give me enough time to flee.

Pepper spray for grizzlies causes short-term blindness and confusion, and makes it difficult for the animals to breathe. More importantly, that teaches the grizzly bears a lesson so they eventually steer clear of human beings after their nasty experience.

Uncle Ben advised that we purchase a holster to handle the 9.2 oz. container of EPA approved pepper formulation. This way, it is within reach in case of a bear attack. He then said we must practice spraying directly from the holster in the event that we can't get that out in time.

The formulation of 2 percent capsaicinoids is the greatest in the industry, making it much more dangerous for humans, who should never be in contact with bear spray.

It seems like we are prepared for our camping outdoors. And I patted the Mace bear spray in my own backpack, feeling safe with it.
