Why The Key To Personal Defense Is Confidence

By Jon L Youngie

I jog as a past time as well as exercise. It is normally a mindless undertaking and I merely allow my own body go with the flow. That was right up until 2 women were reported missing right after running inside the exact same area. My friends' initial reaction was to make me quit or go for a different area. I decided to become courageous and have faith.

In order to be on the safe side, I wanted something just like pepper spray for defense. Brandon, my boyfriend, had been aiming to arm me with one. This is non-fatal, and you can't harm a target forever.

Brandon has been carrying a 2 oz. defense spray stream for personal protection. Having a 10 percent pepper concentration formula, this is measured with 2 million Scoville heat units. Translated, it is intensely hot and painful. The fine grains sprayed on the target will leave a burning feeling towards the skin.

The eyes react first. They slam shut upon contact with pepper. On experience, Brandon stated when they opened, his attacker swayed like he was blinded briefly. He then went into a coughing fit. His defense spray was effective from 5 feet away, and works approximately 12 feet.

My buddy, Pam, is another pepper spray advocate, especially since moving to Texas. She possesses a lipstick self defense spray, that saved her skin twice. Her aggressors never noticed this coming until ...pow! The burning sensation by itself stopped one good enough for Pam to get away. Inside that tiny oz. container are 20 one-second bursts.

I was already swayed I needed a pepper spray. This was an article on the Net which opened my own eyes to the fact that I had to buy one I could use confidently.

The article author, Annaly, claimed even with a little pepper pen, users can disarm an opponent with presence of mind and guts. A potent self defense spray is perfectly ineffective when you fumble and panic.

I guess the use of pepper spray for self defense solely works if you've got the chutzpah to actually make use of your own whenever needed.
