Major League Sports Like Baseball in New Orleans

Like any major city in the US, the New Orleans boasts a number of pro sports teams, most particularly the New Orleans Saints, the NFL major league football team that claimed the 2010 Super Bowl. If you are looking for something else to do besides gambling at Harrah's Hotel and Casino, taking a riverboat ride on the Mississippi River or visiting Bourob Street, there are plenty of fantastic sporting occasions to enjoy while inthe Big Easy.

Soccer and Baseball in New Orleans

Although there is not any MLB (Major League Baseball) baseball in New Orleans or no MLS (Major League Soccer) soccer in New Orleans, the town does have professional clubs in both sports. Pro baseball in New Orleans is played at Zephyr Field, home of the minor league team New Orleans Zephyr, in the suburb of Metairie. The New Orleans Zephyrs belongs to the Florida Marlins of the MLB. Professional soccer in New Orleans is played at the Pan American Stadium, which is home to the New Orleans Jesters, which is a part of the United Football League's developmental league.

Arena Football in New Orleans

Besides soccer and baseball, New Orleans also includes the New Orleans VooDoo Arena Football team (AFL). The New Orleans VooDoo play their home games at the New Orleans Arena, which is also where the NBA team, the New Orleans Hornets play their home games. One of the top flight players on the VooDoos is wide receiver P.J. Berry who had a stellar season in 2011.

Top Sports in New Orleans: Football and Basketball

Both the 2 largest names in New Orleans pro sports are with no question the New Orleans Saints and the New Orleans Hornets, who've done very well in their various top leagues in recent years. As was discussed before, the New Orleans Saints won the NFL Super Bowl, Its current team, controlled by wide receiver Marque Colston, last year's Heisman Trophy winner Mark Ingram and quarterback Drew Brees, is still one of the top associations in the league and a leading contender for next year's Super Bowl. The Saints play their home games at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, formerly known as the Louisiana Superdome. The New Orleans Hornets have made the NBA playoffs for the last four years and is dominated two star basketball players: point guard Chris Paul and power forward David West. Like the New Orleans Saints, the Hornets are predicted to be a possibility when the NBA season starts.
