Wrapping Birthday Gifts By Yourself

By Richardo Manning

Christmas and a child's birthday are the two days a year that are often the most excitedly anticipated annual events of a kid's childhood. With these two special days a year come the promise of presents and gifts, food, friends, and family.

Birthdays especially can be exhilarating for children in Utah because of the often accompanying birthday party. A birthday party held in honor of a child's birthday can be one of the highlighted memories of a childhood.

If you are like many of the men around the world, wrapping presents is not your specialty. No matter how intricately you attempt to fold the paper, the end result always ends up looking like the work of a preschooler.

What is to be done? Is there hope for those who are not proficient wrappers? Well, here's something that should inspire hope. The fact is that most of the people in the world who are expert wrappers were not born with an innate talent for it.

One of the first things to plan and consider is where the party will be held. Most often, to avoid added expenses, parents in Utah will choose to host the party at their own home or at a local public park.

You may be inclined to search around for a professional entertainer who can be hired to perform at the party. While this person would certainly be qualified to complete the task, there are probably others, a little closer to home, who can be called upon to help you. Friends or family members may have hidden talents that can be great for performances and activities at a birthday party. Take some time to think about all the people you know.

The location of the party may also be affected by the theme of the party, should there be a theme selected. Choosing a theme for the party can make all other preparations and plans not only easier to come up with but also fun for the planner as they can use their creative abilities to invent unique ideas fitting the theme.

For example, if the party has a space theme than all following plans can be made around that theme including the decorations, plates, activities, and, perhaps most important to the attendees, the design of the birthday cake. To continue with the example of how establishing a theme will help to generate ideas, consider where the theme can take you.

Utilize a measuring device to measure out the area of paper you will need to wrap the gift. After you cut out the paper, flip it over and make sure it is flat. Next, place the item in the direct center of the paper. If you have done it right, the long edges of the paper should meet over the middle of the item.

Fold along one of those edges so that it is smooth. Then, bring both of the edges together, using tape to keep them together. You should now have two open ends of the package. Turn one end of the package toward you. Fold the sides of these open ends in so that the edge of the paper that is on the table has angled sides. Make sure that the folds are tight, not allowing the paper to move around too much.

This is not to say that planning a preparing for a child's birthday party will not take some work. But, with a good location and a workable theme, a parent can mitigate the stress of planning by having self-generated ideas springing from their theme.
